Medical assessment first
If you have new or unexplained chest pain, contact your GP first. Seek immediate medical help for acute chest pain or difficulty breathing; do not wait for a physiotherapy appointment.
Understanding your symptoms
The thorax is the chest or rib cage. Symptoms in this area may affect turning, reaching or other movements. Before physiotherapy, it is important to identify symptoms that require medical assessment.
What does Boris assess?
Boris discusses how the symptoms began and, when it is safe to do so, assesses movement of the upper back, ribs and shoulders. Chest pain can also originate from the heart, lungs or other organs. For unexplained or new chest pain, contact your GP first.
A plan that suits you
If physiotherapy support is appropriate, we agree goals together for movement and daily activities. The approach may include explanations, targeted exercises and additional techniques based on the assessment.
We assess your progress together and adjust the plan when needed. The time required and the course of recovery vary from person to person.
Your first appointment
Bring identification and any referral or relevant investigation reports. Beforehand, check thefeesandpatient information.
